Once a teacher, always a teacher. Even after a 36-year career teaching and leading in Swampscott, Lois continues to advocate for all of our families …

I am Lois Longin, I went to Swampscott Public Schools as a child, and then chose to dedicate my 36-year career in Swampscott as a teacher, Principal, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Swampscott School Department. We have outstanding teachers, support staff, children, and parents. They were a second family to me. However, I was always appalled by the type of physical conditions “my family” was “living” in. The air quality was subpar, the bathroom facilities were antiquated, eating in the cafeteria was unappetizing, playing in the gym was close and unsafe. Yet most compelling, the classrooms never allowed for 21st learning “my family” deserved – it felt like they were falling behind like communities.

Please help our “family” and vote YES to the type of learning and living conditions they all deserve. Thank you.
